During your evening meal, our Matangi Serenaders will keep you entertained with old South Sea melodies and Fijian favourites. Traditional Fijian dancing known as a meke is held once a week, weather permitting.
Activities are arranged from the Activities Bure situated on the Resort’s main frontage. The Activities Bure is manned 8:00 am – 4:30 pm daily. You will be kept informed of daily activities via our evening Coconut Wireless Newsletter and Activities Board in the Vale-Ni-Kana Dining Room. Our Daily Post will also keep you informed of the day’s main activities. We offer a variety of complimentary and paid activities at Matangi. Ocean Spa
Our new Spa offers a wide variety of treatments including facials, body wraps, manicures, pedicures and massage. In keeping with our ocean theme we use Algologie products made from marine algae harvested from the pristine Pen Lan Peninsula in Brittany, in the western part of France. Coconut oil based “Pure Fiji” products are also used for massage and body treatments. Our professionally trained therapists are only too happy to discuss your spa needs with you. Please make your bookings directly with them. Opening hours are 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. daily. Office Hours
Our Office is located behind our Vale-Ni-Kana Dining Room. Office hours are 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. daily. If you require access to our telephones after normal office hours, please arrange this with the Office Staff beforehand. In the event of an emergency after hours when there might not be staff around to assist you, the Night Watchman stationed at the Activities Bure would be happy to assist you.
Gift Shop
Our Gift Shop is located next to the Office. Opening hours are 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. daily. We stock resort wear, locally handcrafted jewellery, Taveuni grown Black Pearls, disposable cameras, batteries, postcards, stamps, Fijian handicrafts, toiletries and some non-prescription pharmaceutical products. All prices are in Fiji dollars and exclude 20% Fiji Government Taxes. Our Ocean Spa also has a gift shop. All purchases will be added to your Bure Account for settlement at your checkout.
Telephone & Fax Service
Telephone calls can be made on our office telephones via a Fiji operator service. Charges will be added to your Bure account for settlement at your checkout. Our telephone numbers are + 679 8 880 260 or + 679 8 880 699. Our fax machine is available for your use at a charge. Fax messages received will be delivered to your Bure. Our fax number for your incoming fax messages is + 679 8 880 274. If you have your mobile phone with you and it has international roaming, please note mobile phone service is patchy but there are ‘hot spots’ along the Resort’s frontage.
Internet WIFI
A desktop computer located in the Gift Shop at the Office building is available for Internet access at FJD0.50 cents per minute; Charges will be added to your Bure account for settlement at your checkout. Internet service is Broadband. Wireless connectivity is also available in the Vale-Ni-Kana Dining Room, including the lounge, bar and pool areas. Wireless connectivity charges are; FJD30 per user/per day or FJD150 per user/per week. Prices are subject to 20% Fiji Government Taxes. Please obtain your password login details from the Front Office.
Mail Service
Snail mail service is available from the Front Office. Postcards and stamps can be purchased from the Gift Shop.
Reference Books
A limited selection of Reference books on Fijian culture and local flora and fauna, including fish identification books, are available for loan from the Office. A charge will be applied for books not returned.
DVD Loan
If you have a laptop or portable DVD player and if you wish to watch a movie, a selection of DVDs is available for loan from the Office. There is no charge for this service however a charge will apply for DVDs that are not returned.
Game Boards
A small selection of game-boards is available in the Vale-Ni-Kana Dining Room.
Basic First Aid
Basic First Aid items are available at the Office. These include: Antihistamine, Hydrogen Peroxide, antiseptic, antibiotic creams and powders, anti-sting medication plaster and bandages. Prescription medications can be ordered from Nadi or Suva, but ample notice is required and charges will apply. Our closest medical clinic is at Dreketi Village on Qamea Island, approximately 8.5 miles by boat from Matangi. Our closest Hospital is at Waiyevo, Taveuni, approximately 20 miles by boat and car from Matangi Island.
Domestic Flight Confirmation
The Front Office will reconfirm the departure time of your domestic flight from Taveuni, and will coordinate your boat and car transfers to suit. A note will be delivered to your Bure the evening prior to your departure to inform you of your departure time from Matangi.
Settlement of your final account
Your final account will be ready for settlement on the day of your departure. For early morning departures, the Office will be open from 6:00 a.m. We accept cash (Fiji Dollars or foreign equivalent) credit cards (Visa, Master Card, American Express) and Traveler’s Cheques. Your checkout bill will be in Fiji dollars. Bank Exchange Rates are available at the Office. All charges are subject to 20% Fiji Government Taxes.
Special Occasions
Please advise the Front Office of any special occasions, so that we can arrange a fitting celebration.
Room Service
Room service is available during normal meal times. Regular daily menu choices apply.
Wake-Up Calls
Should you require an early morning wake-up call, please ask the Front Office to arrange it. The docking station in your Bure also provides a clock and alarm.
Tipping & Gratuities
Tipping is not encouraged in Fiji, so in fairness to Matangi’s entire team of staff members, we have a staff gratuity fund that is distributed amongst all staff members at Christmas and New Year. For more information, please enquire at the Office. Contributions are appreciated.
Local Charity
Each year we select a worthy cause to benefit the local community. Our project for this year continues to be the Togo Village School on Qamea Island, which now accommodates 100+ students in basic facilities. For more information, please enquire at the Office.
